Google has just launched a new report on Google Search Console (GSC) on May 3rd. This feature evaluates the performance of generative AI in search and Google Discover.

According to information from Google itself , "(...) the reports were created to offer specific views of your impressions on generative AI features in Search, such as AI Overviews and AI Mode" . Thus, the goal is to provide general visibility information on these features, something that Bing's webmaster tools already did.

I remember that, like any new feature in Search Console, it's launched in a sort of beta state and improves as users send in their feedback.

The reports will show breakdowns of impressions, pages, countries, devices, and dates. Thus, the breakdown is what was already used as a standard within GSC, with the difference being the omission of clicks, one of the biggest requests from SEO professionals. Furthermore, at least up to this date, the report does not propose a separation between grounding queries and query fan-outs.
